Faith Building

Why FaithSpun

So why FaithSpun; why did I begin this new blog? Because from every ending comes a new beginning! In my last post, I shared with you that we had decided to close our rentals business. Along with the rentals, we had plans of someday expanding the Yours brand to a retail space. I envisioned a space that included room for both retail and warehouse space for the rentals. Under the “Yours…” heading we could run the rentals business and sell local artisan products for the home and personal care, hence the “for your day, home, life” reference. We had created the Yours For Your website to house all blog posts for Yours…for your day, home, and life. I was posting our home renovation story under “For Your Home” but with the rentals business closing, we weren’t really going to have a need for the “Yours…” website or umbrella brand. So I knew we needed a new website to at least continue posting the renovation stuff to. Whew, that’s sounds a bit confusing with all those “Yours…” references, sorry.

So Now What?

As I began to think about it more, I just knew that I wanted the new website to be faith based. And more than just faith based, I wanted the website to reflect my personal endeavor to become more aware of God’s presence in everything I do, every day. I want to be able to stop whatever I am doing at any point during the day and know that I am in the presence of my God. That’s not an easy thing for me and I suspect it is not easy for most people. I personally am very task driven and I really have to force myself to move away from the daily check-list in my head to spend daily time with God and within His Word.

Recognizing His Presence

Now that doesn’t mean I am working on just sitting around all day long in constant devotional time (although that sounds lovely). I think it’s just more about going through day-to-day life and remembering that God is always right there. He’s right next next to me, going through whatever I’m going through; I’m never alone! Whether it’s working on the house renovation, or making my own household cleaners (yes, that’s a thing), or struggling with a particular life challenge, big or small, every experience is an experience with God. It’s remembering to intentionally insert faith into everyday life! Faith is so much more than just an hour every Sunday morning. It’s about finding ways to give and care for others. It’s about nurturing our personal relationship with God. And it’s about living life; everyday life in His presence! And that’s where FaithSpun begins.

Will You Join Me?

I hope you will join me here regularly, that you will subscribe to the categories that interest you most, and that you will leave comments often! I’m not looking for this to be any big endeavor. If you read my last post, you know that I’m getting ready to move into a “still” stage of my life. This blog will give me a creative outlet for sure and without being any sort of heavy commitment. In fact, I am hoping to move this into a collaborative project and will be looking for other folks that would like to contribute content. I’m hoping these contributors will be multi-generational with multi-faceted perspectives so that anyone can find something applicable to their season in life.

So that’s FaithSpun! I’m excited for this new chapter in life to begin. Thank you for visiting and God bless!

In His Grip,
{Shelley}

I am simply a wife, mom to four (2 humans and 2 dogs), and grandma to three sweet kiddos. I am a humble human working hard to build a stronger relationship with both my God and others; relationships that will prayerfully lead to more people coming to know the Good News of Jesus Christ. I'm learning to spin a little more faith into everything I do, every single day!
